Applebee's

Perfect Sangria Margarita 1800 Reposado Tequila, Good and Marnier, Sutter Home Cabernet,  with orange juice and fresh fruit, (probably just the lime). Light, almost bubbly,  definitely fruity and sweet. After numerous drinks,  it gets a 7/10.

Applebee's

Pre mix Margarita average to below average. 5/10

Applebee's

Sauza Blue 100% Blue Agave Tequila served on the rocks on lime wedge. Basic house mix Margarita with the Tequila. A little too sweet but above average 6/10

SaltGrass Steakhouse

Perfect Patron Margarita, Patron Silver Tequila Tres Agaves Agave Nectar and fresh lime juice, topped with Patron Citrőnge Orange Liqueur. After complaining about the last ones, "not enough alcohol", there was more than enough this time and it helped mask the bad lime juice. Just above the average mark. 6/10. Patron always helps.

SaltGrass Steakhouse

Rio Grande Margarita, Azùna Reposado
Tequila, & Patron Citronge Orange Liqueur., with with Tres Agaves nectar and lime and orange juice. Sweet Sour mix is too sweet and the sour just isn't right overall. Also not enough alcohol. Maybe 4/10. Need better limes if they really are fresh.

Tequila Bar & Grill

Mexican Martini Real Gusto Tequila , Cointreau, lime juice, oj and Spanish olives. Too much olive juice, same bad lime juice, too much salt but still drinkable. (I can taste the tequila) Needs a little more sweetener like agave nectar or even simple syrup. 4/10

Tequila Bar & Grill

House Margarita Reposado Tequila, Triple Sec, Fresh Lime Juice and agave nectar. Too much lime taste and not enough tequila or triple sec. Taste like a bad lineage. 2/10

Olive Garden

Italian Margarita: Sauza Gold Tequila, triple sec, orange juice, topped with italian amaretto. The amaretto comes n a seperate shot glass, so you know it is a fill shot. Good mix of liqueurs. 7/10

Saturday, November 8, 2014

Salsas

House Mexican Martini. Too dirty, (too much olive juice), not enough sweetener (orange liqueur), not enough sweetness, (simple syrup). Average at best. 5/10

Salsas

House Rita, 100% de Agave Tequila, frozen. Too tart, not enough tequila. Its O.K. 5/10

Tokyo Steakhouse

Tokyo Margarita. Camerena Silver Tequila , Patron Citrőnge, lime and sweet & sour with a splash of orange juice.

Not enough tequila and too much orange, and not enough sour. Overall, a 6 of 10.

Salsas

Top Shelf Don Julio with Patron Citronage. Average taste, nice amount of Tequila, (Good Tequila), would have been a 5 without it. 6/10

Friday, August 15, 2014

Morelia Mexican Grill

Blanco Tequila, orange liqueur and some olives and olive juice. Too much olive juice and not a good choice of Tequila. 6/10. Only because the glasses are nice, really 5/10.

T.G.I.F. Friendswood

BFM" Best Friday's Margarita", Patron Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier, lime juice, lemon juice, and agave nectar. Not very strong. Maybe too much agave. Patron can definitely be tasted. 6/10

Louisiana Longhorn Cafe

Midori Margarita

Basic Tequila, Midori Melon Liqueur, Gran Gala, lime juice and sweet & sour.  Too much melon. It looks like it could glow in the dark. Tequila is not very discernible. Too sweet on the sweet & sour. 5/10

Sunday, July 13, 2014

Casa Padilla

This time using Charro Triple Sec instead of Gran Gala, and less olive juice.

1 oz 1800 Silver
1 oz Charro Triple Sec
1 oz Pompeii Lime Juice
1/2 tsp olive juice
2 tsp simple syrup

Shake with ice and pour with strainer in martini glass with two olives.

Definitely sweeter.

7/10

Casa Padilla

Starting to venture into Mexican Martinis, Really like the one at Chuy's, (checkout previous Chuy's blog.

Started out simple while watching Barry Gordy's,"The Last Dragon"

1 oz. 1800 Silver Tequila
1 oz Gran Gala
1 oz Pompeii Lime juice
1 tspn olive juice
2 tsp simple syrup
2 olives

Shake in ice, and serve through strainer in Martini glass.

Not bad for first try. Too much orange liqueur taste from gran gala though. 5/10

Casa Padilla

Specs was out of Don Julio and Tres Generaciones, (Really?). The next best thing was 1800 Silver. So, 1 oz. Pompeii lime juice, 1 oz. 1800 Silver, 1 1/8 oz.  Charro Triple Sec, blended with ice, than add a shot of Gran  Gala, stir and enjoy. 8/10

Tequila Bar and Grill

Top Shelf Margarita: Reale Gusto Organic Tequila, fresh lime juice, cointreau, & agave nectar.

Im thinking I really don't like Reale Organic Tequila. Overall though not bad

5/10

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Saltgrass Steakhouse

Especial Sauza Hornitos Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier Orange Liqueur, Tires Agaves Nectar, and fresh lime juice.

Good amount of Hornitos Tequila, with a good mix of orange liqueur, agave nectar and fresh lime juice, gives it a good sweet and sour balance while letting the Tequila taste sine through. 9/10

Top Golf

Simple sweet and sour mixed with an orange liqueaur, they won't tell the name, with 1800 of course. Not much to look at, not that great of a taste. I never thought I would say this but I think this margarita has too much tequila in it. At least it has that. The extra Tequila kicks it up a click above an average 5. 6/10

Razoo's Cajun Cafe

Although it looks great, this house rita is barely discernible as a margarita. Too much cane sugar and sweet and sour mix is not that great 3/10

Thursday, May 29, 2014

Jack Allen's Kitchen

Sauza Commemorativo, Cointreau, olive juice and fresh lime juice are the basic ingredients in this version. I ordered it with salt.

A little too much Contreau makes it too sweet and lime juice doesn't seem so fresh. Overall 7/10

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Chuy's

Don Julio Silver tequila with Grand Marnier and Agave nectar, is all the description says. Two main ingredients, Don Julio and Grand Marnier, which always go well together,  help to make this one an 8/10

Sunday, May 25, 2014

Casa Padilla

Home version of Sangria Margarita with Z Gold Tequila, Charro Triple Sec, not so fresh lime juice and Madria Sangria Wine.

Gonna have to try this again with Trés Genéracíones Tequila and the Pompeii Lime Juice from H.E.B.
Should climb a couple of spots on the grade scale. For now 6/10

Casa Garcias

Casa's version of a margarita with Trés Generaciones Anéjo Tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice and some simple syrup. $9.00.

Glass not very pretty but looks don't matter if it tastes really good.

Tastes pretty good. Anejo and a shot of grand marnier always go good together, and simple syrup balances out sweet and sour and orange liqueur really well. 7/10

Serrano's

Mexican Martini Agavales Silver Premium Orange Liqueur with lemon juice, Agave Nectar and Olive Juice. $8.50

Olive Juice is too much. 5/10

Serrano's

Don Julio Margarita.

Adequate for consumption of alcohol, nothing special. House margarita with a Don Julio floater. 5/10

Baby A's

Another house margarita with a touch of coconut flavor. It was a waste of time and money, 5 of 10

By the way, none of these margaritas were strong enough to do anything to my conciousness.

Very disappointing.

Baby A's

Midori Margarita, all I know is that it's a house rita with Midori in it. Not too bad, 7 of 10

Baby A's

Purple Rita: menu says it's ingredients are as much a mystery as the Bermuda Triangle. Definitely has a grape slush taste. Ok rating of 6 of 10, but I hear that I will feel it later. We will see.

Friday, April 11, 2014

Casa Padilla

1 oz. Pepe Zavala Reposado Tequila, 1-1/2 oz. Charro Triple Sec, and 1 oz. Pompeii Lime Juice,( no real limes that were any good could be found), blend and pour. Add shot of Grand Marnier, or Grand Gala. Enjoy. 8/10

Krave Wine Bar and Bistro

Tastes like the basic margarita with olive juice. Mediocre at best. Ehh.

Krave Wine Bar and Bistro

Didn't pay attention to the Tequila and orange liqueur. Overall though 5/10. Sweet and sour mix could have been better.

Casa Garcia's

Red Sangria Margarita oh wait, I did this one already. Still an 8/10 as before.

Casa Garcia's

Told her not such a great job on the top shelf, and asked what else do you got. She said I got a white Sangria Margarita that's already mixed in the machine.(can't mess that up too much). Its just the house Margarita with White Sangria wine mixed in. Didn't know there was a white sangria, but not bad. A little too sweet wit the white wine but solid 6/10

Casa Garcia's

Bartender claims she makes a good top shelf margarita. We'll see.

Sweet and Sour mix is too stale, and doesn't seem to have enough triple sec or Gran Marnier in it. It gets one extra point for excess Tequila, but other than that it would be a 4.
I am better off with the House Margarita. 5/10

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Casa Ole

Elevated Rita made with Avion Silver %100 Agave Tequila, Gray Gala and Lime mix. Plain with a little too much lime in the mix. Could use little more Gray Gala. 5 of 10

Saturday, February 22, 2014

Home

Didn't make it out for margaritas on Margarita Day with family in town so dammit I made some. 1 part Campo Azul ReposadoTequila, 1 part fresh squeezed lime juice, 1 1/4 parts Charro triple sec, blended, poured and then a shot of Gran Gala ( or Grand Marnier if your rich), added. 7 of 10.

Chuy's

Patron Silver Tequila, Patron Citronge. Sweet sour is a little off and not enough Tequila. An OK Texas Martini. 6 of 10

Tortuga Flats

So we go to this place I didn't even know existed. The menu for the Mexican Martini states that there is a limit of two per person. The waitress claims because they are so strong. It's Happy Hour and they are normally $10. Happy Hour price $7.50. Waitress said its got Jimador Tequila with agave and fresh lime  and orange juice. Seems like too much sweet and sour and not enough Tequila. The good thing though is that the shaker is relatively large . I filled my martini glass 7 times,( it was kind of small though) Overall it is a 5 of 10

Saturday, January 18, 2014

Outback Steakhouse

Sauza Gold Coast "Rita", obviously Gold Sauza, not enough triple sec, and too much sweet in the sweet and sour. Good price though $4.25. Overall a 4 of 10

Saturday, January 4, 2014

SaltGrass Steakhouse

Don Juan Margarita has Don Julio tequila, claim of fresh lime juice with agave nectar and topped off with Grand Marnier. Sweet and Sour mix is a little too sour and could use little more orange liqueur. Without the Premium Don Julio Tequila this would have been a 4 but it qualifies as a 5 of 10. It costs almost $11, that doesn't help.

Friday, January 3, 2014

Jimmy Changas

Tres Generaciones Reposado, st. Germain elderflower liqueur and fresh lime juice. I really don't think the lime juice was fresh, if so the limes were not that good. Also could have used more orange. 4 out of 10.

Jimmy Changas

Perfect Patron Margarita at Jimmy Changas with Patron silver and Patron Citronge Liqueur for $8.98. Simple enough. Not enough orange and sweet sour mix was really off. 3 out of 10
