Serrano's

House Margarita, Morales 100% Agave Tequila, Hiram Walker Orange Liqueur, lime and lemon. Agave nectar is too much. Too sweet, even though orange liqueur is light. Lemon seems like too much as well. Tequila tastes good. Average 5/10

Tequila Bar and Grill

House Margarita is the worst one yet. The mix is off and tequila and orange liqueur is extremely lacking. 1/10 this time around.

Svante's

Mexican Martini. Herradura Silver, Cointreau, Fresh Lime Juice, Olive Brine, Agave Nectar, garnished with olives. Definitely plenty of alcohol. Needs more Lime Juice and less Olive juice. Also too short on Cointreau. 3/10. Too much alcohol always gets an extra point. Would have been a 2 otherwise. Place just opened. Will try again in a few months just to be sure.

SaltGrass Steakhouse

Updated version of Especial Margarita, with Camarena Silver Tequila, Patron Citrónge Liqueur, Tres Agave Nectar & fresh Lime Juice. Wow. Great tequila taste, orange taste and lime sweet and sour taste is not overpowering. Agave nectar, gives it just enough sweetness. I do believe I found a 10 this time. Last time was a 9 with Hornitos tequila. Yay!!!

T.G.I. Friday's

The BFM, Patròn Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier, organic agave, fresh lime juice, lemon juice. Actually just the right amount of extra sweetness from Grand Marnier and Agave juice. Patròn Silver Tequila is always a good base. Only problem is glass is too small. Would have been a 7 without the Patron. 8/10

Margaritaville

Uptown Margarita, Margarita ville good tequila, Cointreau Orange Liqueur with house Margarita blend topped with a Good an Gala float. Sweet & Sour mix is perfect, with just the right amount of tequila and orange Liqueur. 8/10. Margarita ville tequila is not that great. 1800 would have made it a 9 and  Don Julio would have made it a 10.

Salsas

Mexican Top Shelf Margarita:

Don Julio tequila, fresh lime juice, olive juice and Patron Citronage. Served plainly in a beer goblet with no slice of lime. Sweet and Sour mix is below par, and a little watery. 5/10, only because of Don Julio, otherwise it would have been lower.

Rock Sports Bar

Not to bad basic margarita, Hornitos Tequila, Grand Marnier, and sweet & sour mix. Too much sour in sweet and sour, and not enough tequila. Average 5/10

Trudy"s North Star

Trudy's House Margarita, Cuervo Gold tequila, not enough, and probably a sweet and sour mix. OK. Just above average, mostly because of cuervo. 6/10

Trudy's North Star

Dulce Verde Margarita on the rocks. Dulce Verde, 100% agave, organic, tequila, made in Austin, with Citrongé, and fresh lime juice.  Tequila is OK, not as great as they were making it it to be, overall, average tequila overpowers the orange liqueur. Average 5/10.

AppleBee's

Blue Agave Rita. Suaza Blue tequila. Too sweet, with too much agave. No trace of triple sec, or any orange liqueur. Nowhere near enough tequila, or it is just not good tequila. 3/10, even though last time I was here it was a 6. Depends on the bartender.

Tequila Bar and Grill

Mexican Martini. A little bit too much olive juice and no olives. Average. 5/10

Tequila Bar and Grill

Top Shelf Margarita, Don Julio Tequila, Gran Marnier Margarita. Sweet and Sour is too tangy and is way too much. It really does an injustice to the drink overall. 4/10.

Texican Cafe

Texican Top shelf house margarita with Patron. More like expensive Limeade. I can't even tell if there is tequila in it. Very watered down. Do they know what triple sec is? Put a cherry in it and it can pass for a Sonic Cherry Limeade. This is supposed to be Top Shelf?  Maybe it is just a bad or new bartender. Anyway 1/10 Lowest rating ever.

Tequila Bar and Grill

House Margarita, with Tres Pesos tequila in it. A little bit on the sour side, but tequila is pretty good. Could use a little more orange liqueur.  Overall slightly above average.  6/10

Chuy's (Webster)

Grand Ma's Rockin' Rita. Served in a pint glass with 1800 Silver Tequila and extra Grand Marnier to smooth it out. Sweet & Sour seems to sour and the tequila does not come through that much. Plain Margarita, (as advertised) 5/10

Gringo's (LaPorte)

Silver Star Margarita, seems to be house Rita with a shot of Patron Silver hand shaken in. Well, exactly as advertised, mediocre Margarita, with a shot of patron. Not bad but average. 5/10.

Gringo's (LaPorte)

Suave Agave Margarita, Suaza Hornitos Reposado tequila, O3 orange liqueur,  orange juice with sweet & sour in a specialty shaker. Served in a Martini glass, Tequila not that great, sweet $ sour seems to be Reddi Rabbit, (not that great of a brand), and it has too much orange taste in it. 2/10

BJ's

BJ's Handcrafted Margarita, Milagro Silver Tequila, Cointreau Orange Liqueur,  Sweet & Sour, orange and lime. Only difference feom top shelf is tequila. Not much better. In fact, too sweet on sweet and sour, and the tequila is not that great. 4/10

BJ's

BJ's Top Shelf Margarita. This time with Jimador Tequila Cointreau Orange Liqueur,  sweet & sour, fresh orange,  fresh lime, Grand Marnier,  on the rocks. Not bad. Much better than last time when it had Cazadores tequila. Can definitely taste the tequila, needs more orange liqueur though. Sweet and sour can use more sour. Overall 5/10. (Average) Extra point for extra tequila,  otherwise its a 4.

Mesa Rosa

Cadillac Margarita: Herradura Añejo Tequila, Gran Gala, splash of orange juice, and sweet n sour.  Sweet n Spiderman too stale, Herradura tequila is not that great, +1, on the amount of tequila though., orange juice is not necessary.  5/10, wpuld have been a 4 but extra tequila helped.

Mesa Rosa

House Mexican Martini: El Jimador Blanco, 100% Agave Tequila, Gran Gala, and apparently the rest is a secret. Not bad, rivals my own Mexican Martinis. Jimador tequila is better than I thought, Just a bit too much orange liqueur though. Could have been a 9. 8/10

Chili's

Platinum Presidente Margarita $9.50,  Hand Shaken, Tres Generaciones Ańejo Tequila, Cointreau Orange Liqueur,  Presidente Brandy and sweet & sour. Good ingredients, too much orange liqueur,  and definitely not enough Tres Generaciones. Good enough for a 7/10

Friday, January 9, 2015

SaltGrass Steakhouse

Y.O. Rita Pura Vida Silver Tequila, DeKuyper Cactus Juice Liqueur,  Tres Agave Nectar,  Fresh Lime Juice and chili salted rim. First sip did not like. Worked my way around the chili salt, and the rest was pretty good. Sweet and Sour was pretty good. Good Tequila, agave nectar gives it a unique sweetness, overall 7/10. (No chili salt would make this an 8.

Monday, January 5, 2015

Gringos (LaPorte)

Cadillac Rita. House Margarita, with Sauza Gold and DeKuyper orange liqueur. Sweetness is good with the sweet and sour mix. Sauza Gold is above average. Overall 7/10.

Gringo's (LaPorte)

It is the House Margarita, with Tres Generaciones Tequila mixed in. It's served in a pretty small glass. The foundation is OK. The basic House mix itself is a 5. It needs more orange liqueur for some sweetness.  The 3G's can only bring it up to a 6 though, no more. Average +1.

Carrabba's

Carrabba's Italian Margarita. Sweet and sour mix is too sour, and it doesnt seem to have enough amaretto. Tequila is average at best. Overall 6/10.
